- All fees below are shown in USD. Fees may be paid in US dollars or in Mozambican Meticais using the invoice-date exchange rate. A 5% Value-Added Tax (IVA) is applied on top of the entry assessment fee, admission fee, tuition and residential fees and other chargeable services such as meals and transportation.

Application and admission fees

- Entry/assessment administration fee: USD 75 (charged for administering any entry assessment; this amount is adjusted against the admission fee if the candidate is successfully enrolled).
- One-time, non-refundable admission fee: USD 2,000 per student.
- One-time, refundable security deposit: USD 1,500 payable on acceptance; refundable when the student leaves provided written notice and a "No Dues" clearance have been obtained. No interest is paid on the deposit.

Residential (boarding) fees

Discounts

- Sibling discount: 5% of tuition fees for the second and subsequent children.
- Early-payment discount: 5% discount if full-year tuition is paid before 7 July.
- Early Years special discount: 27% discount for KG1 and KG2, and 20% discount for KG3, when enrolling in the full-day programme (during this discount period no other discounts apply).

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Instalment schedule (four equal instalments):
- 1st instalment: by 7 July (covers August to October fees).
- 2nd instalment: by 30 September (covers November to January fees).
- 3rd instalment: by 30 November (covers February to April fees).
- 4th instalment: by 28 February (covers May to July fees).
- Tuition fees must be paid within 30 days of admission to secure the offered place.
- Parents must provide proof of payment made via direct deposit or bank transfer to the Finance Department (finance.maputo@agakhanacademies.org), even if payment is made by an organisation or company. The Academy may change accepted payment arrangements at its discretion.

Late payment penalties and enrolment consequences

- A penalty of USD 50 is applied on the first of every month for delayed payments made without a formal agreement with the Finance Department.
- Unexplained payment delays may make the student liable to suspension.
- The Academy reserves the right to withhold results, school leaving certificates, transcripts or any other documents until all outstanding dues are settled in full. Students with unpaid fees from a previous academic year will not be permitted to re-enrol for the new academic year.

Other chargeable items (excluded from tuition)

- Uniform costs are not included in tuition fees.
- Specific field trips and laptops are not included.
- Exam fees for IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme are billed separately based on actual fees issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
- Transportation and meals for day students are available at additional cost as listed under optional services.

Refunds and withdrawal notice

- Security deposit (USD 1,500) is refundable when the student leaves provided the required written notice is given and a "No Dues" clearance is obtained; no interest is paid on the deposit.
- The admission fee (USD 2,000) is non-refundable.
- If a student wishes to leave the school, one term's advance written notice of withdrawal must be given; in lieu of notice, one term of the annual fees will be due and payable. School clearance will not be granted until the fee account is settled in full.

Payment currencies and proof

- Fees can be settled in USD or in Meticais; when paying in Meticais the exchange rate of the invoice date is to be used.
- Parents must provide the Finance Department with proof of payment (direct deposit or bank transfer). Credit-card acceptance is not specified in the fee schedule; the Finance Department should be contacted directly for alternative payment methods.

Notes on enforcement and financial assistance

- Students demonstrating financial need may be considered for financial aid; financial aid applications will not be processed if the family has outstanding fees from a previous academic year.

Curriculum

History

Established in 2000 by His Highness the Aga Khan IV, the Aga Khan Academies is an integrated network of schools. The Academies are part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The Aga Khan Academy Maputo opened in August 2013 in Mozambique, becoming the third academy in the network. Maputo's campus is part of AKDN's education initiatives spanning several countries.

The Aga Khan Academy Maputo campus is purpose-built to provide world-class facilities for students and staff. The campus includes the Junior School, Early Years Centre, Senior School, Science Building and two residential buildings; the Academy and Commons buildings are under construction. The Mozambican government donated the site to house the third Aga Khan Academy, part of a network delivering international-standard education. The Aga Khan Academy Maputo follows an International Baccalaureate framework for Nursery to Senior School, developing students who are intellectually curious and globally minded. Admissions

1) Express interest and review eligibility. The Academy welcomes enquiries for Nursery, Junior and Senior School. The programmes are based on the International Baccalaureate. Admissions can be followed in English or Portuguese. Admission is competitive and based on merit; the Academy endeavours to meet the demonstrated financial need of admitted students.

3) Assessments and language readiness. Kindergarten 1 entrants must be 3 years old by August 31. All prospective Nursery applicants participate in assessment exercises and may enter without strong prior knowledge of English or Portuguese. Grade 1 entry requires the child to be 6 by August 31 and to demonstrate potential in literacy and numeracy; in the final three years of the Primary Years Programme, applicants must have basic proficiency in both English and Portuguese before admission. Senior School entrants (Grades 6–10) must show high scholastic achievement and involvement in community service or extracurricular activities; Diploma Programme entrants (Grades 11–12) must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.

4) Decisions and next steps. Admission is based on merit and the Academy endeavours to meet demonstrated financial need.
