Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school delivers an inclusive educational programme in which all students are valued equally. Learning is differentiated to meet diverse needs. The school psychologist is consulted by faculty to develop differentiated teaching methods for SEN students. The approach emphasizes access and inclusion in learning and assessment, ensuring that barriers are removed rather than lowered. The classroom environment supports the development of self-esteem and student well-being.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school provides support for students with special educational needs within an inclusive program. The school complies with Greek Law 3699/2008 and IBO guidance on access and inclusion for IB programmes, including universal design for learning. Prospective IB entrants sit entrance exams; if a SEN issue is identified, extra time is provided and external educational psychology assessment is arranged. The IB Diploma Coordinator guides staff and parents, coordinates SEN provisions, and ensures documentation is kept on file. Costs for educational psychologist assessments are the responsibility of the parents.

Mental Wellbeing

The school recognises emotional and mental wellness as central to learning. A school psychologist collaborates with teachers to develop differentiated teaching strategies and resources to support students' emotional needs. The approach emphasizes building self-esteem and well-being within a student-centered classroom. The school works with health and social services to ensure programs meet national law and IB requirements.

Safeguarding

Pierce provides child-protection guidance with safeguarding information for students and families. The page outlines guidelines from the Ministry of Public Order on safeguarding children from domestic violence, sexual abuse, and online risks. Guidelines cover domestic violence, safeguarding from sexual abuse, and safeguarding online safety.
